Sandra Schoeninger, Former Staff: 1966-2001, 2016 Margaret Eddy Alumni Award recipient
Sandy received her award on May 20th during the Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2016. Sandy was a missionary sent by the American Baptist mission to teach Physical Education at KIS, which she did for 35 years! She was the Head of Department, coaching many school teams and chaperoning sports team trips to Ooty. She was an active member of the Church that meets at KIS, chaired the MSA accreditation committee on many occasions, coordinated the hiking program for years, was class sponsor to numerous classes, sang in the Chapel Choir, was the kingpin for every Field Day she was in Kodai, hosted students and staff for Friday Prayer Breakfasts, coordinated the camping program, welcomed staff and their families to her annual Christmas tea, and was involved in many, many other areas. Sandy’s life in Kodai exemplifies what it takes to build a community. She cared and was involved. Her work and service are a testament to Sandy’s commitment to Kodaikanal International School.
