On Saturday, April 22, 2017 – Earth Day, Clarence Maloney ’52 and daughter Iti ’11 talked with Senator Van Hollen, KIS alum Class of 1977. Chris had invited some of his constituents to a breakfast meeting near the Senate office building, as a prelude to the Science March in Washington, and he gave an informative talk about the importance of science, especially these days, addressing climate change, pollution, Chesapeake Bay, etc.

Chris attended KIS for 9th and 10th grades while his father was Ambassador in Sri Lanka; he was born in Karachi. After serving some years in the Maryland House, Chris got elected as a Democrat to the US House, representing my district in Maryland for some years, and last year was elected to the US Senate.

Chris spoke to our Washington DC Alumni Chapter a few years ago as a result of Clarence’s invitation.
