Meet the Board of Directors: 2025 – 2026

The present Kodai Friends International, Inc. (KFI) Board of Directors consists of 9 elected members and 2 ex officio members – the Principal of KIS, and the Administrator of KFI.

Margaret “Meg” Greene, Class of 1979

President

Margaret Greene lived in Afghanistan, Iran and the US before spending 7th, 8th, and 9th  grades at Kodai while her parents were with the US Consulate in Chennai. She is filled with joy and longing when she attends reunions at Camp Kirchenwald and connects with Kodai friends old and new. Kodai made a lasting mark on Meg’s outlook on life and her lifelong search to find her place and make a contribution to the world.

She has worked for over twenty years on the social and cultural determinants of health and well-being. She has conducted research on men and masculinities, adolescent health, and child marriage, highlighting how programs and policies could shift harmful practices. Meg heads up GreeneWorks, a consulting firm focused on social change for health and development; she has also worked at several NGOs and was a faculty member in the Department of Global Health at George Washington University. For ten years, Greene served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Promundo, which promotes caring and equitable masculinities and gender relations internationally. She has a PhD in Demography from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in Linguistics from Yale University, and is a passionate advocate for gender equality.

Meg was elected to the KFI Board in 2020.

Siddharth Gore, Class of 2013

Secretary

Siddharth “Sid” Gore was born in Bhopal, India, and relocated to the United States with his family at the tender age of two. Over the years, Sid has frequently moved back and forth between the US and India. This transnational upbringing has endowed him with a sense of “cultural fluidity,” a trait many in the KIS community can relate to. Sid has harnessed this cultural dexterity to explore 33 countries – and counting.

A proud alumnus of the class of 2013 at KIS, Sid furthered his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology. There, he attained both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with a research focus on Robotics and Automation. An ardent explorer of new technologies, Sid is continually fascinated by their potential to enhance the human condition – a passion he accredits to his transformative experiences at KIS.  Currently residing in Arlington, Virginia, just a stone’s throw away from Washington DC, Sid applies his expertise as a Senior Systems Engineer at the leading aerospace and defense company, Lockheed Martin.

Deeply passionate about the pivotal role Kodai can play in today’s intricate and evolving global landscape, Sid is eagerly committed to supporting KFI’s mission and contributing his unique insights and experiences to further its cause.

Shiv Narayan, Class of 1995

Treasurer

Shiv attended Kodai International School from 1989-1995, and has some of his most fond memories during this time. He is always looking for an opportunity to give back to the institution and community that holds a very special place for him.

Shiv has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and BA in Economics from Grinnell College. He has served as CFO, Controller, and Treasurer of a number of different companies and also worked in operational and consulting roles earlier in his career.  Shiv is a CPA and CFA.

Lyn Krause, Class of 1966, Former Staff

Director

The son of the Principal Herb Krause and Housemother Rose Krause, Lyn spent his childhood and high school years in Kodai.  After graduating from KIS in 1966, he attended Tabor College in Kansas, earning a BA in Social Science.  Soon after College, Lyn spent a year studying French before his Education career took him to the Congo, where he taught English and Economics at Ecole Secondaire CEFMZ.  He then went back to his roots in India and Kodai, teaching Social Sciences and Chairing the Dept of Social Sciences at KIS for nine years.

In the years that followed, Lyn worked at a number of Universities and Colleges in the US, including Professor of Management and Economics at Fresno Pacific University, Coordinator of the AmeriCorps Program at Ohio University, Director of the MBA program at Eastern Mennonite University, and finally Professor and Dean of Social Sciences at Diablo Valley College.  Within those years, he also worked overseas as the Country Director for the Mennonites’ development efforts in Bangladesh and Haiti.

During his years as an Educator and Scholar, Lyn received a Masters of Education in Social Science (Trenton State University) as well as a PhD in Higher Education (Ohio University).

Lyn was elected to the KFI Board in 2021.

Kristina Aier, Class of 2001

Director

Kristina has a Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a BA in History and Comparative Literature from Ohio Wesleyan University. An attorney, Kristina lives and works in Los Angeles, California, and is active in the KIS alumni network. She is excited at the opportunity to serve on the Board, giving back to a community that holds a special place in her heart. 

Kristina was elected to the KFI Board in 2022.

Vijay Naidu, Class of 1986

Director

Vijay attended KIS for three years from 1982-84. He was born and raised in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Vijay resides in Boston and works as a Portfolio Manager for a small investment shop. Vijay has had a career spanning over 30 years, with a focus on Best Practices, Fiduciary Oversight, and Client Services

Vijay holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University and M.S. in Finance from Boston College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a member of the CFA Institute. 

Sylvia Trautmann Rogers, Class of 1973

Director

Sylvia was born in Ambur, Tamil Nadu, and moved to Kodaikanal in 1958 where her parents were boarding parents at Loch End until 1968.  She treasures her years of having Loch End and Kodai as her playground.  Sylvia received her BA from the U of Missouri in South Asian Studies.  Over the years she has worked as a legal court reporter and estate manager, and at present her other part-time job is with the Saint Louis Zoo.  She has served as the KIS Alumni St. Louis Chapter Co-President and unofficial organizer of the monthly St. Louis Curry Clubs for many years.  Her interests include reading, hiking, traveling, and walking/running the dogs at the local animal shelter.

She has been lucky to have revisited Kodai many times; one of her recent visits was in January of 2018 with her four siblings – truly the trip of a lifetime.

Nirav Sahni, Class of 2014

Director

Nirav graduated from KIS, which remains an integral chapter of his life, in 2014.

Nirav holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Strategy from McGill University. He is based in New York and currently works as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Prior to this, he was a management consultant at Kearney, advising Fortune 500 and private equity clients across the TMT sector.

A published author of two books on emerging markets and producer of The CEO Series, a globally recognised Apple podcast featuring guests such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, Nirav is also a former national-level swimmer and active sportsman. He remains committed to mentorship and giving back to the communities that helped him grow.

Nirav was elected to the KFI Board in 2025.

Eshan Kalarikkal, Class of 2013

Director

Eshan is part of the graduating class of 2013 at Kodaikanal International School. Kodai introduced Eshan to a community of people and ideas that inspired transformational personal growth. It inspired a lifelong curiosity for travel that has taken him on adventures around the world. Following high school,

Eshan got his undergraduate degree at James Madison University in Virginia. He spent 6 years in Management Consulting and now works in a global strategy team at Amazon in Seattle.

 

Dr. Bradford Barnhardt

KIS Principal/Ex-Officio Director

Dr. Brad has served as an educator and school leader for 25 years at locations in Africa and Asia. Prior to joining KIS, he lived in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, where he was Vice Principal at Woodstock School His previous tenure at Woodstock stands testament to the long standing history that Woodstock and Kodai share. Brad comes with the knowledge that helps him navigate the rich legacy of our school and alumni community.

Dr. Brad believes strongly in character development, the vital importance of role-modeling, active classroom pedagogy, and holistic education. He is committed to the promotion of integrity, kindness, forgiveness, and other core Christian values that infuse individual well-being.

A native of the US Carolinas, Dr. Brad grew up between beautiful beaches and mountains, which fostered an appreciation of the powerful role outdoor education can play in whole-child development. He and his family have since embraced nature’s wonders wherever they go, from the foothills of the Himalayas to the coastlines of Japan and China.  This leaves much for them to explore in the Palani Hills and surrounding coasts.

Louise Riber, Class of 1973

KFI Administrator, Ex Officio

Louise was born in Madurai and attended Kodai School during the “season” for Kindergarden through grade 2, then boarding from grade 4 through to graduation in 1973.  She is married to alumni John Riber, and has many extended family connections with the school.  After completing a Bachelor of Science in Michigan, Louise and John returned to India in 1979 and made several films, kicking off her career as a film Producer and Editor.  They moved to Zimbabwe in 1987 for a six month film project, and ended up staying 32 years in Africa, making entertainment films with a message.  They decided to semi-retire in 2019 and moved to Bellingham, Washington to be near their sons and grandchildren.

Louise has maintained deep connections with Kodai and her life-long friends from childhood, making sure to return to India for visits as often as possible.
