May 2017

To my benevolent benefactors,

This semester has been a journey. From the start of the new year, International Baccalaureate (IB) subjects have been getting harder and more challenging. I am doing my best to keep up with all the work around me. Along with my studies, I am happy to inform you that there were Student Council Elections about two weeks ago. I ran for the post of President and came out victorious! I plan on making school the most comfortable and memorable experience for all the students at KIS through my work as President. Some of the initial initiatives that we have undertaken are extending long weekend so students have time to travel and can spend time with their respective families. Furthermore, I have passed on my MUN presidency to another capable student. Together, we are collaborating in planning and organizing our very own conference—KISMUN (KIS Model United Nations). Through this conference we hope to involve other schools in fruitful debate about pressing world issues.

Throughout the semester, I have been helping some students with their math homework, and subsequently involving myself in helping the community by setting up food stalls and raising funds for the underprivileged students in Kodaikanal. As a part of our IB work, we were involved with an interdisciplinary science project (Group 4 Project). It is basically an advanced science fair as a part of our course work. Our group ranked 1st place for being the best project  in which we turned our school food waste into biogas. As the school year comes to a close I am concentrating on my studies in hopes of doing my best in the upcoming exams. I hope to hear from you and get to know you and, if given the chance, to express my gratitude to the people who are enabling me to get the educational opportunities as great as the ones offered at KIS.

Again, I would like to thank you for your continued support and for giving me this opportunity. I cannot thank you enough for doing something like this for me.

Sincerely,

A student who is ever grateful,
