An exceptional education begins with exceptional teachers. This fund focuses on investing in faculty through named and endowed teaching chairs, providing long-term support for educators who teach with passion, innovation, and expertise.
With a focus on pedagogy, endowed positions allow KIS to attract and retain teachers with outstanding classroom practice. Such individuals may teach in any subject area and will serve as peer leaders and role models.
Your contribution here directly shapes what happens in every classroom, every day.
by kfi | Jul 8, 2026 | The KIS Scholarship Fund |
The Scholarship Program is the central focus of our 125th Anniversary and the most direct way to transform lives. This program enables students from diverse backgrounds to access a Kodai education, bringing new perspectives, talents, and experiences into our community. Scholarships at KIS support not just tuition, but the full experience, academics, residential life, outdoor education, arts, and service learning.
This fund allows families in financial difficulty or from diverse backgrounds to send their children to KIS, providing them with an opportunity to receive a world-class education. To be eligible for a scholarship, candidates must demonstrate both financial need as well as academic excellence. Scholarship students will receive a free or a generously subsidized education for two or more of their high school years at KIS.

Kodai’s unique setting has always been central to its educational philosophy, functioning as a living classroom for generations of students. This fund supports the SEED program at KIS, where students engage deeply with sustainability, ecology, and community impact through hands-on, experiential learning.
From environmental work in the Palani Hills to service initiatives and interdisciplinary projects, students are encouraged to understand their responsibility to both people and planet. These experiences shape not just what students know, but how they choose to live and lead.

Fund a Need is a “where needed” fund which enables KFI to support projects, programs and scholarships over and above the restricted fund programs.
Some of the most meaningful opportunities arise in the moment and require immediate support. Fund a Need allows KFI to respond flexibly to evolving priorities, whether that means enhancing student programs, upgrading facilities, investing in new ideas, or addressing KFI’s administrative needs.
It ensures that we can act quickly and thoughtfully, without being limited by restricted funding. For many alumni, this is a way to support the school in a broad and meaningful way, trusting that their contribution will be directed where it has the greatest impact.

Since 2004, the Labor Day weekend Kodai Reunion has brought alumni, faculty, and friends together in the woods of central Pennsylvania for a weekend of fellowship, food, and connection. From shared meals to long conversations and simple moments outdoors, the reunion is a place to reconnect with old friends and make new memories.
This year, the reunion will take place from Wednesday, Sept 2 to Monday Sept 7 at Kirchenwald Camp, half an hour out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Various types of accommodation are available, and of course fabulous Indian food all weekend long.
This year, we will be welcoming the new KIS Principal, Dr. Bradford Barnhardt, and the new KIS Alumni and Development Coordinator, Tara Menon. Please join us for this very special event. For more details and information, go to this link: https://kodaireunionusa.com/.
